James Turner

President & CEO

Jim Turner dedicates every day to building sustainable, long-term value for IFN’s owners, customers, partners, and employees by ensuring that the right culture, strategic processes, and operating tools are in place for the company to thrive.

“Creating a great customer experience starts with creating a great employee experience,” said Jim. “Although we are seeing increasing competition in the critical infrastructure services we provide, we also see a lot of growth ahead, and we’re positioning ourselves to seize it.”

Jim brings a strong background to this role. After undergraduate success at Ball State University, Jim earned his law degree cum laude from Indiana University School of Law and continued his education via the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Earlier in his career, as chief financial officer and later president of Cinergy Corp., Jim was instrumental in the successful merger and integration of Cinergy into Duke Energy Corporation. He also played a key role in developing the combined company’s new business model, designing its organizational structure, identifying key personnel for leadership positions, and refining the plan needed to achieve its new goals. Jim’s supervision of the complex regulatory approval process associated with the merger ensured that it was all completed well ahead of investor expectations.

As president of the regulated utilities segment of Duke Energy Corporation, currently the nation’s largest electric utility, Jim had overall responsibility for utility operations spanning five states and millions of customers. As lead independent director of Pike Corporation, one of the nation’s leading energy services and infrastructure businesses, Jim led a committee of Pike’s independent directors in the evaluation and execution of a go-private opportunity. Their decisions led to a 51% premium for Pike’s shareholders.

Jim also previously served as chief operating officer for Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, a 200-attorney business law firm with principal offices in Indianapolis and Louisville.

Jim was recently elected to the board of managers of INDATEL, a nationwide network of independent high speed networks of which IFN is a member. Jim also currently serves as non-executive chairman of the Board of Homeserve N.A., based in Norwalk, Connecticut. Homeserve N.A. is the North American subsidiary of the British multinational company Homeserve plc. Embracing community and civic involvement, Jim has served in leadership roles on numerous civic and nonprofit organizations.

Sweethearts since eighth grade, Jim and his wife, Leah, were married in 1981 and have three children.
