We are thrilled to share with you the launch of our new name and brand: Intelligent Fiber Network (IFN).
When IFN was founded 16 years ago, our primary mission was to connect and serve the needs of our 20 independent telephone company owners. It’s important to pause for a moment and think about what the world looked like just 16 years ago.
It was a world in which two recent Stanford graduates had just launched a company to market their newly developed search algorithm, which they called Google. Another relatively new company, Netflix, was still five years away from offering an online video streaming service to complement its movie-rental-by-mail business model. And speaking of five years away, the world of 2002 was still five years away from the release of one of the most groundbreaking devices ever invented — the first generation iPhone.
Obviously, the technology revolution that Google, Netflix, and Apple represent has radically transformed the product offerings and technology needs of our owners and all the customers we serve. From telehealth to distance learning, from cell towers to agribusiness, in large cities and small towns and in rural communities everywhere, the demand for high speed bandwidth is ubiquitous and growing.
Our owners have reinvented themselves throughout their history — especially over the past 16 years — from local telephone companies to sophisticated broadband providers. It is imperative that the network they belong to reflects their pioneering spirit. By rebranding to Intelligent Fiber Network, we’re communicating our commitment to run with the revolution.
Our Intelligent Fiber Network rebrand reflects at least three specific decisions about who we are. First, we want to showcase the increasingly complex technical design of the high-speed fiber networks we deploy by calling them what they are: Intelligent!
Second, we are removing geographical limitations that may artificially exist by virtue of having a specific state be part of our company name. We want to be the premier choice for businesses and organizations looking for fiber connectivity not just in Indiana, but wherever our growth may take us.
Third, we wanted a name that allowed us to preserve the IFN acronym, because our customers, partners, and owners have come to know and trust that the IFN brand represents a commitment to providing fast, reliable, and innovative connectivity solutions. At the same time, we are refreshing the look of the IFN logo to make it more current, more relevant to today’s technology revolution.
You may be asking yourself, “What does this change mean for my business or service?” We can assure you changing our name and branding to Intelligent Fiber Network does not change one iota of our commitment to delivering quality, responsive and innovative products and services to our owners, customers, partners, and vendors. In fact, we believe it helps reinforce that commitment.
Our journey from a small startup to where we are today has not been easy. No journey worth taking ever is. We are excited about the road ahead. IFN’s customers are growing. We want to grow with you. We’ve enjoyed the powerful connections we’ve made with all of you so far and are looking forward to the next chapter of our intelligent fiber journey.
Sincerely,

Jim Turner, CEO
